And for people wanting to see a big screen, it may be their opinion that a "toy projector" is better than a even a cheap small TV. I have, multiple times, defended the purchase of these projectors to get people into the field and to start enjoying projectors. The word "better" is a comparative which evinces the existence of opinion. So if you can afford or find a good deal on a reputable projector, great go for that, but if you can't and don't mind the loss in quality just buy the Chinese one.Įven a cheap small TV is better than those toy "projectors". For some people, even if the quality is poor, and the contrast is shit, that's worth it.īasically cheap Chinese projectors suck yes, but for some people having a massive screen on a budget is worth it. We are in a time where you can pay 100 dollars and get an 100 inch screen. Now let me be clear when I say the quality of a projector from a reputable brand is 100x better, but for me that 70 dollar projector was great when that was all I could afford. The way I got into projectors was by purchasing a cheap supposedly 720p projector off of Amazon for 70 CAD. Sure if they throw an extra 200 dollars into it they could get something of significantly better quality but that for many is not much of an option. HOWEVER, there are a lot of people out there who when they say 200 dollar budget, mean they cannot go above 200 dollars. So often on this sub I see people tell those asking for advice that they should just spend extra money and get a refurbished reputable projector.
